WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE INSTALLING

This is not an all-purpose skid plate. It is purpose-built to cover the GX 550’s catalytic converter area and make a quick theft attempt much more difficult.

Routine engine oil changes can be completed with the shield in place. Transmission service is different: Miller CAT specifies that the shield needs partial removal for that work. If you handle your own maintenance, that is worth knowing before installation.

It is also important to set the right expectation. The Cat Shield is a theft deterrent, not an absolute theft-proof device. It adds time, noise, and a major obstacle for someone trying to access the converters underneath your GX.
