Fitment Note

Fits 2016-2023 3rd Gen Toyota Tacoma with the 3.5L V6, RWD only (2WD/PreRunner drivetrain), factory OEM converter required. Compatible with TRD/Off-Road skid plates. Will not fit alongside lift kits that modify or replace the stock chassis crossmember. Assumes your truck still has the factory Radiator Support Splash Shield installed (Toyota part 51406-04020). This is the RWD-specific shield, not interchangeable with the 4WD version, order the correct drivetrain variant for your truck.

Aluminum (SKU TOY-043) — $230.00, the lighter and more budget-friendly of the two options, still fully bolt-on with the same tamper-proof hardware.

Stainless Steel 16 Gauge (SKU TOY-014) — $320.00, heavier duty and more resistant to being cut or pried, the pick if you're in a high-theft area or just want the extra peace of mind.

Catalytic converter theft is a real problem on this generation Tacoma. High ground clearance and an exposed underbody make it an easy target, and this shield bolts straight to the factory frame points, no drilling or permanent modification, so your factory warranty stays intact. Tools needed for install are a 1/4" bit driver and a 12mm socket, most owners get it done themselves in under an hour with a jack and stand.

This shield will not interfere with oil changes. Some owners will need to remove it for a transmission fluid service depending on your maintenance interval, Toyota recommends 30,000-60,000 miles for that on most of these trucks, check your specific schedule. It also will not cause the converter to run hot or trap heat, Miller CAT manufactures converters themselves in addition to shields, so the shield is designed with proper clearance in mind.

Worth being upfront about: this is a deterrent, not a guarantee. It significantly raises the time and tools needed to steal the converter, which is usually enough to send thieves elsewhere, but a determined thief with enough time could still defeat it.
